Some healthy tips for walking your dog in the winter: Dr. Smith uses a lighted armband made for joggers as a dog collar for early morning walks or after work walks. Also a head lamp designed for hiking can be lightweight and not expensive. This frees up your hands to manage the leash properly. (The Petzl brand is Dr. Smith's favorite). EMS in Hyannis should carry both of these. Keeping an active dog in the winter prevents not only obesity but also prevents injuries in the spring.
